iTunes Review

On NOFX’s 11th studio long-player “We Called It America” breaks the ice with a memorable Alec Baldwin sample from the film Glengarry Glen Ross and then lets loose a fast-driving, melodic, punk-pop tune with honed hooks and even sharper commentary on the state of the Union: "National bankruptcy/ Circumcised society/ USA dined and ditched/ Fox reports 'poor is the new rich.'" “Suits And Ladders” also lambasts corporate America, and they continue to touch upon familiar topics of the band's lyrical cannon. “The Quitter,“ “First Call,” and “I Am An Alcoholic” hilariously perpetuate the drunk punk stereotype, while “Blasphemy (The Victimless Crime)” and “Best God In Show” rail against organized religion. But the real sidesplitters come with the pop culture references like “Creeping Out Sara,” a pointedly funny little ditty about getting drunk backstage and meeting either Tegan or Sara (he can’t remember). “Eddie, Bruce and Paul” is easily the funniest song here as it chronicles the breakup of Iron Maiden, replete with dueling guitarmonies and a horribly impersonated Bruce Dickenson falsetto.

nofx is the greatest band

nofx has been my favorite band since i was 15 years old. im 25 now so you gota figure that they have something to offer. while this album is pretty damn solid, its quite as good as punk in drublic or so long and thanks for all the shoes, but it is a step up from war on errorism and pump up the valuum. all i gotta say is that in a vast wasteland of whining, crying, fake-punk and tween queen pop punk these guys still hold strong to their own style and roots. definitely worth picking this album up. long live fate mike, el hefe, melvin, and smelly

Sweet!

They have done it again! or have they? This NOFX record is similar enough to make ya happy for new NOFX tunes but with a new enough sound, dark in places, to make ya yearn for more, do yourself a favor and order through Fat Wreck and get 2 more songs on a bonus disc- self promo---nah

Awesome

NOFX is still pumping out the best music of the west coast punk scene. All you posers who say you're punk, listen to NOFX and then you'll know what the word really means. Combining songs with well thought out timely messages with songs like Creeping OIut Sara, NOFX has still found the perfect mesh of lyrical brilliance and middle school comedy. I have yet to see a better title for an album then, White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean. Keep it up guys!!

Formed: 1983 in Berkeley, CA

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s

Formed in Berkeley, CA, in 1983 and relocating to Los Angeles not long afterwards, NOFX steered clear of major labels and commercial exposure over the course of their career, recording an impressive number of full-lengths albums plus an assortment of EPs and singles. The band started out as a trio comprising vocalist/bassist Fat Mike (Mike Burkett), guitarist Eric Melvin, and drummer Erik Sandin (aka Erik Ghint/Erik Shun). Sandin quit in 1985, and his place was taken by Scott Sellers; that same year,...
