WHY IS IT 10$???

I love De La Soul more than any hip-hop fan on this earth... but c'mon iTunes, we're in a recession! I need to hear more than a 30 second snippet before i drop 10$ for anything!

Now I just need to workout...

Worth the money, worth the listen, worth the iTunes head-ache, but not quite worth the wait...well not as far as strictly-lyrics listeners go. There are probably only about 18 minutes of spoken word, each second of which is GOLD. I bought this last night (I'll get to my head-ache later) and was very happy from the intro. I’ve followed De La since I was a kid and I’ll say they did not compromise their style in any way to accomplish this Impossible Mission (I'll consider this Part 2). I mean, in the end it’s a concept album, so it is what it is – an album to jog to with some ridiculous lyrics every five minutes or so.

I had some difficulty buying the album, which I expected since this is my first iTunes purchase. It was about 11 PM EST, the album downloaded pretty fast but it just kept downloading for another 20 minutes or so. Finally, I hit the Pause All button and then the Resume All button and the Pause All buttons were grayed-out. So I waited another 5 minutes and then it completed!! Sweet.

It comes with a book which separates the track into 10 “tracks”. In my opinion, the opening two “tracks” and final two “tracks” are the best for strictly hip-hop heads. The rest just makes me feel like I’m at a dance club with kids I don’t really hang out with. I mean, they’re cool and all, but we just wouldn’t be good friends you know. But I digress…

The track they play in the background of the video advertisement is, hands down, the best track on the track, or whatever. The beat is simply genius and it what exactly what I wanted out of this album. I gave it to my girlfriend to run to and she said she really enjoyed it so I guess mission accomplished.

If you can’t download the album and you like De La Soul, don’t rate the album low…duh. Sorry had to say that.

I do wish they had it cut into tracks, since some tracks have no lyrics. I hear that if you have a Mac, it is very easy but o well, still sweet. I don’t think iTunes can do it but if you add it to a playlist ten times and adjust the playback times accordingly, you can burn it with tracks. This might be a horribly round-a-bout way, but it work and I don’t know how else to do it on a PC.

I guess I’ll get the Aesop Rock album now. I’ll let you know how that goes.

what the hell is wrong with you people?

Do you not read what you are buying first? This is for people who go for runs and listen to music while doing so. It can also be heard as a continuous mixtape, if you so choose. Aesop Rock also did one. PAY ATTENTION. Please. Also, artists are known for doing things a little different every once in awhile, it's called GROWTH. Quit hating.

Biography

Formed: 1987 in Amityville, NY

Genre: Hip Hop/Rap

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s

At the time of its 1989 release, De La Soul's debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, was hailed as the future of hip-hop. With its colorful, neo-psychedelic collage of samples and styles, plus the Long Island trio's low-key, clever rhymes and goofy humor, the album sounded like nothing else in hip-hop. Where most of their contemporaries drew directly from old-school rap, funk, or Public Enemy's dense sonic barrage, De La Soul were gentler and more eclectic, taking in not only funk and soul, but also...
