the wonderful memories

i bought this ironically while i was at their show in austin, tx a few months ago when i saw them for the first time. i was truly blown away by their performance on stage and this cd brings back great memories every time i listen to it. for anyone who hasn't picked up on too much of TBM, they sound just as wonderful live as their regular studio work, and this album is definitely worthwhile the buy!

Good songs just got better!

After 4 albums of studio recordings, this album was a nice break from the (sometimes) seemingly "overdone" recordings (although those are still really good). It was nice to be able to hear what the Birthday Massacre sounds like live without Chibi's voice being corrected or fixed in anyway. Even if it doesn't sound perfect, I personally think that that adds to the overall excitement of live performances. Listening to this album I could almost see myself at one of their concerts (which I have yet to do, sad to say). Also, I think it's pretty impressive how well Chibi sings throughout this performance. Even during "Blue" which is the 2nd to last song they perform sounds amazing and her "growl" voice is amazingly scary (both in Blue and Lover's End, where it gets pretty intense at the end).
So all in all, another impressive album from the Birthday Massacre. If you truly like this band, you will NOT forgo purchasing this album. I pre-ordered it the moment it appeared on iTunes. I was so excited for it. So don't let it go. Buy this album! You will not regret it!

This band is going to blow up!!

Happened upon this group while surfing through iTunes last summer after a traumatic relationship experience. I'm still getting over the initial "who the heck are these guys??!" reaction, and I am sooooo pissed that I missed them on tour a few weeks ago in my hometown. Give it a chance - very catchy, atmospheric, dark, moody and dancy. It's like a female-led goth/dance/murk mix with thundering down-tuned guitars and drums. Its odd to hear the mix of Chibi's vocals against the wet, moss-covered soundwall produced by the band.
