Good Scoring!

Music: Good. Movie:....Not so much...
by fyre_breathObviously after seeing the trailers one thinks, "Hey, this show'll be interesting. Besides, there's Will Ferrell! He's pretty good." Well let me ask you something, how many good movies has Will Ferrell been in so far? NOT SO MANY, HUH?
Ferrell aside, the score wasn't actually half bad...or at least, the samples weren't. In some instances, you can almost hear the roar of the dinosaurs, the hissing of the Sleestaks....and a banjo, probably a well-meaning tribute to the original TV series. But isn't this movie supposed to be a comedy? This score is almost TOO dramatic for it's genre.
Track 28 on the other hand, fulfils my own personal desire as a movie score fan: a rock guitar orchestrated into the score! Finally!
Reminisce of Lost Worlds and the Strange!
by Why so serious? I am serious, and don't call me surely!!Michael Giacchino does it again! This soundtrack reminds me so much of Ghostbusters, the strange eariness, zany scores, adventurous ones, scary ones, it has it all. The movie looked fun and zany and this soundtrack delivers just that. I hope to see this movie, it looks very fun. The score reminds me of Giacchino's work on the Lost World video game soundtrack and uses similiar scores here with a new touch of his eery feel to it that reminds me so much of Ghostbusters. I recommend a number of songs on this album, namely Sleestak Attack, End Credits, The Cosmic Lost and Found, The Crystal Cave, The Ones That Got Away, and the Devil's Canyon Mystery Cave. These tunes are eery, zany, fun, scary and adventurous or humerous all at the same time, I definetly recommend it and hope to see more of Giacchino's work.
