Oustanding Musicianship-One of Bryan's best
by nmguitarplayerI've been a Bryan Sutton fan since 2003 when I saw him in Telluride with Jerry Douglas. He's easily the best flatpicker out there, and one of the most versatile acoustic pickers around. This album showcases the various groups he's played live with (minus Ricky Skaggs)-Chris Thile (in a duo and with Thile's band the Punch Brothers), Hot Rize, Russ Barenburg, Bela Fleck, the Acoustic Planet guys (Sam Bush, Mark Shatz, Jerry Douglas, and again Bela Fleck). The song selection is great, the musicianship is amazing, and Bryan's playing is as always top notch. Morning Top is a great leadoff number, while Loretta's Waltz is a simple and beautiful tune. Other highlights include Church Street Blues, Big Island Hornpipe, and the devilishly playful Gonna Lay Down My Old Guitar makes a perfect closer. Highly reccomended for bluegrass guitar fans and all fans of acoustic music.
