Album Review

Filled with bubbling electronics and light, G-rated club anthems, Ocean Eyes sets its sights on the MySpace generation, targeting the younger siblings of those who bought the Postal Service's Give Up six years earlier. This is computerized pop music, replete with programmed drum loops, digital symphonies, and all the amenities of modern recording software. Only Adam Young's vocals carry a hint of human presence, and his fanciful lyrics — which turn even the most mundane content (see "Dental Care," a good ol' fashioned ode to oral hygiene) into whimsy — serve to strengthen the album's escapist appeal. Such syrupy sweetness builds to a feverish pitch throughout the album's 12 tracks, peaking during the viral sensation "Hey Seattle" and its sonic cousin, "On the Wing." Those who don't have a sweet tooth should stay away, but Ocean Eyes will serve as a tasty dessert for those who can stomach it.

What happens when a young visionary follows through.

by BelievesInJesus89

I won't go very indepth, I just bought this a couple days ago. I listen to it every time I get in my car; it awakens a gentler and more imaginative side. Can't find that very often; this generation is one that embraces more of the nitty-gritty in life, and in my opinion, often fails to embrace true beauty and simple joy. This album can awaken that emotion, something unique and irreplaceable in the life of a living soul. And Adam manages to convey the real source of his joy is his relationship with Christ, and the enjoyment in other things- the imagination that runs colorful and happy, and his relationship with a girl- are simply results of that foundation. Very good vocals, imaginative sounds and rythms, and an underlying message of escape to a better place. Great work, Adam. My favorites are:
2.)The Bird and The Worm,
5.)The Saltwater Room,
7.)Meteor Shower,
9.)Fireflies, and
10.)Tip of The Iceberg

Chart topper? Really?

Saw this album featured on BroBible.com - do I really need to explain why that's an issue? Horrible bubblegum rubbish for culturally devoid people who are just now discovering v-necks and Chrome bags. Electronica has really come into its own in the last half-decade - so why is it a Postal Service sound-alike band is top of the charts on iTunes?

Postal Service much?

The Postal Service swagga jacking on this album is unbelievable. I hope Ben Gibbard sues this guy.
