A Well Balanced Refreshing Album for the Ages
by Jorge the FuryHot, hot, hot! Dawen's album, "American Me" is amazing! It is refreshing to hear nice melodies, lush harmonies and thoughtful arrangements to go with well-written lyrics (such a rarity these days). What strikes me most about this album is it's ability to transcend atypical "labeling". Placed in the soul/R&B genre, I would go further and add funk, jazz, & classical to the mix of styles present on this album. In addition to regular pop appeal, "American Me" appeals to the audiophile for it's well constructed and well produced sound, musicians for it's artistry, and people of all races and ethnicities for it's universal message. Furthermore, the album is well-balanced, exploring not only themes of a political or socio-conscious nature, but personal as well including romantic, lament and redemption.
Pick up a copy today and put it in your rotation. You're guaranteed to get a lot of mileage out of "American Me". I predict a timeless classic in years to come.
