Great CD
by Wildbill2Picked this one up Wednesday evening when Angela played at Awendaw Green here in Charleston. Totally awsome-been listening to it continuously since that night. Only regret is that I didn't pick up her first CD at the same time.
A fresh take on the genre
by Ecto-sanThe first thing you notice on this album is Ms. Easterling's voice, which makes an immediate positive impression. What's even better is that she comes through in the songwriting, as well. She's not just a pretty voice; her range of emotional dynamics on this one album could fill 3 albums by a less articulate artist. "AP Carter's Blues" is ethereal and haunting, but she has no trouble switching gears and making your toe tap with "Black Top Road", a rockin' up-tempo tune that will stick in your head for a long time. She demonstrates this ability throughout the album, and every song is really well-produced. A very impressive effort by an artist with amazing singing and songwriting chops. Highly recommended.
