Album Review

Spencer Moody's hollering vocals may make you want to run and hide, but fans of thick and chunky rock will revel in this silly and entertaining record. Any band that draws its inspiration from such sources as the film Night of the Hunter ("Left Hand Right Hand") and punk legend Johnny Thunders must have something to say.

Can't Get Enough

I love love this album. I can't get enough of it. I started listening to the MCD in 01, around the time they broke up and was heart broken to learn I would never be able to see then live. When I heard they were doing small reunion tours in 06 I felt a glimmer of hope. Now that glimmer of hope is real and hopefully if my luck doesn't catch up with me I will finally get to see them live. I will die happy. P.S. Brian What?! Live? This CD is amazing!

Well it's hard to be smart when you're young...

This is the Devils at their rockingest, savage core. More punk rock than some of their other organ-ladden, moodier rock, and amazing start to finish. Every song on this album is solid, but stand- outs include "Dear Hearts", "18 Wheels", "Johnny Thunders", and my personal favorite; "Ready for More".

Get this and pretend "Brian"'s review doesn't exist.

Biography

Formed: 1997

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '90s, '00s

Unlike most punk acts of the '90s who travel along punk/pop and alternative ways of the rock genre, the Murder City Devils choose to stay in control of their riffs. Keeping a strong presence of simple features of pure rock & roll, the Devils finish up showing clean yet raw compositions, supposedly connecting them to the punk style. It was in Washington in 1997 that vocalist Spencer Moody, guitarist Dan Galluci, bassist Derek Frudesco, drummer Coady Willis, and Nate Manny (guitar, bass) ended...
