iTunes Review

When it comes to heavy metal, thrash veterans Slayer deliver without fail. Unlike other bands who eventually find the mainstream with ballads or somehow calibrate their sound for radio, Slayer have never lost the “heavy” in their music. They continue to write strong, memorable riffs that never let up or let down. The title track opens things with a spoken word intro and shifts in tempo that remind listeners that original drummer Dave Lombardo is back behind the kit. “Unit 731” channels the relentless thrash pace of Reign In Blood. “Snuff” jams tight with guitar solos that flicker towards the heavens. Guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman are in fine form and power the tracks with an authority their followers often dream of. The band turns on a dime, as “Public Display of Dismemberment” and “Play With Dolls” prove beyond doubt. Bands inspired by these innovators have come along to expand on this classic band’s attack, but there’s still nothing quite like hearing Tom Araya scream as if his life depended on it.

wow, this is not what i expected when i heard a new album was comming out...i expected somthing like there newer albums; which were good, but could have been better. this takes them back to there roots as a thrash band and this is just that, fast with a hard beat and incredibly catchy... this is an album worth any slayer fans collection

Can't believe Slayer turned into puzzies.

They sound like the old slayer I have loved for years but for the last few albums they have taken on a strange political edge. I don't want politics in my heavy metal. Go back to the old ways of death and blood. Take your politically correct skirts off you little girls.

Not their best

Overall a good solid album. The drumming is a little unimpressive, i had a hard time believing it was Lambardo behind the kit. The guitar working doesnt fair much better either. but its sure to please any Slayer fan.

Slayer was one of the most distinctive, influential, and extreme thrash metal bands of the 1980s. Their graphic lyrics deal with everything from death and dismemberment to war and the horrors of hell. Their full-throttle velocity, wildly chaotic guitar solos, and powerful musical chops paint an effectively...
