by keijohIn today's musical world of Digital Analog Workstations where musicianship has been decimated by electronic layers of pre-recorded tracks and sound samples, what a pleasure it is to hear a young woman's musical efforts recorded in near real-time performance mode. "People Eating People" is the musical offering of a solo artist - unknown except by the name People Eating People - of an extremely talented songwriter, pianist, and singer. If Tori Amos and Regina Spektor are of your musical liking, then you will not be disappointed by this young woman's journey into a life reflected in musical pathos and tragedy. The music, comprised of piano, guitar, drums, and an occasional 1980s electronic keyboard, is at times near cartoon like in quality, but lurking in the background of 1930s inspired blues, Bessie Smith comes to mind, are the vocals of a woman singing a testimonial of a young life riddled with pain, disappointment, love, and hope for a better future.
