iTunes Review

Hoobastank’s 2001 major-label debut (they self-released two prior albums) isn’t flashy or over-the-top — it simply delivers straight-ahead nü-metal with some punch. Hailing from the suburbs of Los Angeles, Hoobastank was part of the same scene that produced Incubus and Linkin Park, and the three bands share some sonic similarities. Featuring strong, choppy guitar riffs, thundering drums, clean production, and tight harmonies, the album has gone on to sell more than a million copies, largely on the popularity of the single “Crawling in the Dark,” which earned considerable radio airplay. The album boasts more than just that huge hit, though. Other highlights include “Running Away,” with its slow build to a full-throated chorus, the melodies of “Ready for You” and “Too Little Too Late,” and the power ballad “To Be With You.” Overall, a promising big-league debut.

Put this Album on Max!

by A New Desperate

Before buying this album, I always thought that they were a soft rock band with broken hearts, I have never been so wrong in my life. This album had me begging for more, each song was perfect, I had to get some more. Hearing this was awesome, I am so glad I got this, albums like this should be preserved in time and should be brought back if all rock is dead. Overall, if you are a alt-rock fanatic with an edge, let this be your edge.
