Customer Reviews

Very Alanis

Obviously, most of the songs on here have been heard before and each one of them is excellent in their own right. Of the new tracks: Crazy is a very well done remake. Simple Together and Sister Blister are worth the price of the entire CD. Highly recommended for any Alanis fan.

What a journey

While it's missing some of her bigger songs (and I think some of her best) 'The Collection' is a wonderful mix of her works. I still listen to JLP to this day and think it's one of the best albums ever made. While her later releases never had the sheer impact of that album I truly think they are even better in many ways. Songs like 'So Unsexy' are incredibly moving. 'Eight Easy Steps' has an undenialby catchy hook to it that just grabs you right away. I don't know why she doesn't get the attention that she used to, I was kind of hoping her audience would grow up with her and follow her on this path. Her lyrics are always interesting and thought provoking (although a little uneven sometimes) and the musical accompaniment (did I spell that wrong?) is usually perfect. Once you remove, or at least push off to the side a little, JLP, I would hope that you can see (and feel) what a great artist she is. I think holding her to that standard is impossible and unfair. Buy it, you'll love it!

A great collection.

This collection is a great package of songs that shows Alanis at her best, from the hits to some deeper cuts that show why her loyal fans love her and stay with her. If you were a fan of Jagged Little Pill and lost touch since, this is a great primer to see what this amazing artist has been up to for the best 10 years. This collection is a clear indicator that Alanis is a visionary in the industry and always worth seeing what she is up to. The reworking of So Unsexy is brilliant and a clear indication of artistic abilities.

Biography

Born: June 01, 1974 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '90s, '00s

Alanis Morissette was one of the most unlikely stars of the mid-'90s. A former child actress turned dance-pop diva, Morissette later transformed herself into a confessional alternative singer/songwriter in the vein of Liz Phair and Tori Amos. However, she bolstered that formula with enough pop sensibility, slight...
