Crashes FIXED Woot!!!!
With this newest update all of the crashing problems I was having have now stopped. Byline is once again one of my most used apps and I am loving it. Thank you for getting this update out.
Usabiilty severely impacted by recent issues
I've been a heavy user of this app for several versions and until recently, I've loved it, so I feel a little bad piping up now that I have complaints.
In the past few versions (post-iOS4 release) the app consistently hangs for about 60 seconds while it caches downloaded content. The app is completely unresponsive during this time; the only way out is to hit the Home button. If you choose to wait through the hang, then the app behaves normally. This hanging, however, severely impacts usability because I use Byline to scan headlines quickly when I have a brief moment - in an elevator, waiting in line, stopped in traffic. Having to suffer through a completely unresponsive UI for a minutes makes this use case totally unworkable. In the past, the caching seemed to happen in the background so that you could view content that was already downloaded.
Also, the "Mark All As Read" button is still too hard to get to for a functionality that is used so often. It requires me to stretch my thumb to the top-right corner of the screen to tap into Edit mode, and then traverse my thumb to top-left to tap Mark All As Read. At the very least, make it a single tap.
Waiting for iPad version
Although one of my most used apps on the iPhone, it's just really clunky on the iPad. Best feature is that you can pre-cache the pages so that you can read the full articles when off-network. 3 stars until there is a version that takes the full screen on the iPad.
