Description
Turn your iPhone and iPod touch into a wireless drive and file viewer with DataCase!
Usage instructions and How To videos are available at www.veiosoft.com
Drag and Drop:
DataCase works directly with Finder and Bonjour to make saving files to your iPhone easy. Start DataCase and your Mac already knows that it's there. Drag and drop files just like it was another hard drive.
Mac or PC:
DataCase works with any computer that has wireless capabilities or is connected to a wireless network. Browse, view, upload, and download your files from finder on a Mac using AFP or from windows explorer on a PC. You can even save files to your iPhone or iPod Touch using industry standard FTP. No external applications necessary.
Security:
DataCase allows you to create multiple volumes to separate your data any way you like. Each volume is independent and allows you to define how it can be accessed. You can set read, write, and browse permissions for each, or even make it invisible to anyone but you. Volumes can also be set up to alert you before allowing a connection over the network.
View your files:
No computer available? Why not view your files on your iPhone! DataCase makes it easy to view your Documents. Page up and down, or jump to the top or bottom. DataCase even remembers where you last left off in a document so you don't have to scroll back to where you were to continue reading.
Supported file types include:
- Microsoft Office (doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx)
- PDF
- Text
- Images
- Html
- Audio
- Video
Please note that Audio and Video playback is limited to formats that are supported by the iPhone OS.
Internationalized:
DataCase is localized for English, French, German, and Chinese, with more on the way!
Note: OSX 10.4 users, please check our faq for potential AFP compatibility issues.

Datacase vs. Files vs. Filemagnet
Now have had chance to compare all three, having bought Datacase yesterday. Files vs Filemagnet was close, but Files wins for the simple and fast WebDAV support, PC support, it opens images and scales up or down depending on the size AND allows images to be sent to the Camera Roll on the iPhone (nice!).
Comparing Files with Datacase was close as well. Both are easily accessed in Leopard, however, I could not get Datacase to play MP3 files, there are no thumbnails for a folder of images in Datacase (only Filemagnet had thumbnails), and images open in Datacase with white/dark/strange borders - definitely not as nice as Files. Scaling of images is not great, some are smaller than the screen, some larger. Datacase saves files to a Shared Folder, Files to a main window (saving a click to get to them). No clear way to get Datacase images from Shared Folder to Camera Roll for example.
All in all, Datacase was somewhat of a disappointment. I am going with Files first, then Datacase, and finally Filemagnet.
What would make these apps better? EM attachment of files, thumbnails, passcodes on folders, image scaling, better pdf handing, etc - other than that, we are lucky to have 3 excellent apps for true iPhone file transfers!
Can't access the program on PC. Instructions are horrible
Come on Veiosoft. Some instructions would be nice for PC users. What you have on your site is terrible. I have no idea what you are talking about in your short instructional and therefore I've wasted my money and time. I see all the good reviews but perhaps you'd get even more users if you took the time to help basic computer users who aren't familiar with FTP etc.
Solution for PC users
I've been getting the same problems that most of the PC users have been getting... No Connection
After playing with it for awhile, I discovered that your wifi network setting has to be "static" NOT DHCP or BootP
Now it works perfectly...
I am giving this 3 stars because I had to figure this out myself due to lack of documentation... But, its is a nice application..
