Best basic Japanese app I've tried

This is the flash card app I've been waiting for. No other kana-only app lets flash cards function as flash cards (doesn't show you the answer right away). My only suggestion is that the app include katakana as well (for the same price or maybe a buck more) and that the background image on the cards be removed. It looks cool but it's a little distracting when I'm trying to learn the kana characters. Over all, a nearly perfect little app. Thanks for making it Evil Boss! -ThePete

The Best App for a Beginner

I have now downloaded Hikachan, iKana, Kana Flip, and lastly this program, which is the only program that I have been satisfied with so far. This is the only program that both a) works like actual flash cards in that it doesn't show you the roomaji at the same time as the kana, and b) allows you to turn cards off and on so that you can practice only the kana that you have already studied. It is a very simple application, but sometimes simple is good. If you're starting out learning kana, and you're trying to learn on your own, I would actually recommend buying this application and iKana, which will teach you stroke order. But if all you want is a flash card program to practice the kana you've already learned in Japanese class, this program alone will do the trick.

Good

Good functionality, user-friendly, but at this price point it really should include katakana as well. I like the simplicity and effectiveness of the flash card interface. What makes this app is that you can individually select the characters to review in your flash card deck. It would be nice if there were some way to have a subset of cards to quiz on or to include more frequently (such as ones you keep forgetting) without resetting the contents of the deck. With real flash cards, you would sort out those you don't know and drill on them more, then later add the others back in just so you don't forget them. If developer would make these changes this would be much improved.
