Description
Discover is a mobile file manager application that allows you to manage, store, view and transfer files with other computers or iPhones, within the same Wi-Fi network. It also allows you to access local or public servers on the Internet, both within or without Wi-Fi connections.
Features
--Wireless flash drive
Instantly convert your iPhone to a wireless Flash Drive without the use of a cable. Simply connect your iPhone to your computer’s Internet browsers such as IE, FireFox, Safari, Finder for the Mac OS, or the WebDAV clients such as Transmit. With an IP address that Discover provides, you can easily upload or download the files between the computer and iPhone.
--Sharing files with your friends over the air
Want to share pictures or documents with your friends in class, at a party or in a conference? Our “Nearby” function can detect other iPhones in close proximity and enable you to share files with them via Wi-Fi networks. If you choose to add the MobileMe service, Discover can support the emailing of files from your actual iPhone.
--Multi-format file reader
Dicover contains a Multi-format files viewer that allow you to view documents, code, audio, video, photos, and more. Special features, such as bookmarks, would easily allow you to read while on-the-go. In addition, Discover also now supports the formats docx, xlsx, and pptx.
--Access local and public server
Discover allows you to access your MobileMe iDisk server and Discover servers from local networks or the Internet. Once you are connected to your server, you can then upload/download files between your server and your iPhone. The Discover server application can be downloaded at http://www.mappn.com/community/

Customer Reviews
One of the Best Document Managers
Many of the negative reviews cite problems that don't exist. For example, you CAN upload multiple files at one time, you CAN turn off the annoying popup message at the start, Discover DOES use WebDAV, and it DOES expand images to full screen by default. This a great little app that compares extremely well with the 13 other, similar ones in the store. Perhaps the negative reviews are from Windows users? Just a guess.
Special strengths:
- Unique browser-based interface lets users manage files/folders and uploads with their web browser (supports IE, Firefox, Safari). Users can also use a WebDAV client (such as Finder or Explorer). This approach lets you bookmark Discover in your browser and easily connect to it later.
- Nice support for HTML viewing, which has the same features as plain text viewing--namely, you can increase or decrease font size and choose between black-on-white or white-on-black themes.
- Full range of file-management tools on the iPhone: Create, rename, move and delete folders and subfolders, and move, rename, and delete files.
- Allows users to browse iPhone-to-iPhone and share files.
- Very good built-in web browser that makes it easy to return to your starting document after following links.
- For movies and images, Discover is the only app I've found that fully incorporates viewing into its interface. Most others utilize the iPhone defaults.
- Tries to customize behavior for different file types--e.g., for PDF it displays up/down navigation buttons, whereas for pictures it displays previous/next buttons.
- Provides a search tool that can search on file names in your document library.
- Seamless switching from portrait to landscape views, resizing documents as necessary to fully fit the screen sizes and automatically entering full-screen mode.
- Good built-in help.
Weaknesses:
- Space alloted to directory and file names is much too large, so you can only see a few at a time. This is especially a problem in landscape view.
- Built-in navigation is, reflecting several problems:
- In-document navigation is hindered by the full-screen view implementation, which frustrating because a single tap brings you out of full-screen mode, and yet there's no way to navigate other than tapping or swiping.
- A tap brings up a navigation slider, which is good for going quickly from one part of a long document to another, but isn't good for page-to-page reading.
- There's no quick way to return to your root folder. So, if you have several nested folders, there can be quite a bit of going up and down levels.
- Using the "Back" button to close a document can be confusing, since for some file types (e.g, HTML), the button does what you'd expect--returns you to the folder the file is in--whereas for others (e.g., PDF), it takes you back to the root folder.
- Displays advertising banner in folder view.
Awesome!!
Perfect in every way! No complaints with anything and I would like to know what app the guy who rated 1 star was using because it certainly wasn't this one. Love the file viewing feature (discovered it on accident). The absolute best part is that it's free, where's the sixth star on this rating thing?
This is a GREAT File transfer utility
I have been waiting for a decent file transfer utility. Why can't my iPhone work the same as a flash drive? Now it can, with password protection.
