Description
*new! PureData patch for synthPond is available on the synthPond website. thanks to Chris Randall of Positron Records!*
*coming soon in synthpond 2.5.1, compatibility with OSCulator. Sorry 2.5 isnt workning with it! I don't know very much about osc, but im working on it and a fix should be out soon!*
synthPond is a relaxing spatial sequencer and generative audio toy inspired by the work of Toshio Iwai.
Unlike a normal sequencer where you place notes on a grid and a moving playhead plays them, in synthPond you place nodes in a field (pond).
Because the system is spatial, it's easily graspable and very intuitive, but also very deep. While it's easy for someone with no music knowledge to create a complex melody, synthpond is also suited for advanced musicians who are interested in generative musical composition.
Additionally, the audio generated can be placed in a 3D space, occurring around the listener coming from the relative positions of each node. This also allows for spatial features like orbiting to create a more generative composition.
More information (and a video tutorial) is available at:

synthPond requires headphones, without them you may hear distorted or limited audio.
synthPond was built with mobileFrameworks, an iPhone related c++ library for artists
What's New in Version 2.5
- OSC support! Download the MAX/MSP patch at http://apps.stfj.net/synthPond/
- Added a Rest Note (Mute note). It is accessible through the color sentence menu.
(I know this is a little weird but it's an advanced feature anyway, and there wasn't room for it anywhere else)
- Added ability to set the bpm to 0
- Added option to rename save files
- Fixed a bug for which when you set the BPM to any number above 30 it would behave as if you had set the BPM to 60

Really crazy about this app. It's really easy to make surprisingly complex (and strangely soothing) melodies. An awesome app already and with planned updates, it can only get better. Totally get it homes.
Great with few problemos
This is a great time waster. Not for profesional musicians looking for a serious app for music making but for your average musician or even your average joe. However, according to my ear, some of the tones that play while being a 2nd octive node feel a little... Flat to my ear. That's just me. Maybe it's supposed to be that way but I'll be testing it with my tuner. Also needs some stability adjustments. One suggestion is to maybe add some more (types of) nodes to make it more worth the price. Probably worth about 1.50 but because of apple, I feel 1.99 is a fair price but the potential for this app is very high. Hopefully we'll see some new and great features in updates.
4 Stats for stability issues.
This is a battery killer!!!!
This is avery cool app. I'm just getting the tools together for a new audio project, and this program just made the list in the first two minutes of playing with it.
Thanks!!!!
