Description
Outpost allows people to manage their projects with Basecamp® (http://www.basecamphq.com), an online project management app from 37signals. Basecamp is widely acclaimed for its simplicity and effectiveness in organizing teams.
Outpost brings the power of Basecamp to your iPhone or iPod Touch, with comprehensive support for messages, milestones, to-dos, and comments. Outpost is also the first app for Basecamp which offers full offline capabilities.
Get the big picture
Outpost has multiple Dashboard screens, giving you a broad overview of recent activity, your to-dos, and upcoming milestones across all of your projects. Recent changes can also be viewed project-by-project.
Keep the conversation going
Add comments to individual messages, to-dos, and milestones to stay in touch with your team. Comments support Gravatar icons, so it’s easy to tell who’s who.
Sync effortlessly
All syncing in Outpost is automatic and happens in the background while you work. Projects are downloaded according to how recently they’ve been worked on — so your most important information is available immediately.
Additional features:
• Messages are rendered in HTML
• To-dos can be rearranged and checked off from lists
• SSL accounts are fully supported
• More coming very soon…
More information and support can be found at http://www.outpostapp.com/. Be sure to let us know what you think!

What's New in Version 1.0.2
Thanks to a dedicated team of volunteer testers, this version fixes all known significant bugs:
• Various crashes.
• Data upload problems.
• Table row issues.
Also in this version:
• Better reporting of errors from Basecamp server.
• Better handling of non-admin user accounts.
Caveats for users with non-admin privileges:
• Company data is limited to those companies with access to the same projects as the user.
• User data may be severely limited or entirely unavailable.
• Message categories are only available in Outpost if they contain messages already.
We are working with 37signals on Basecamp API updates to resolve these issues.
Customer Reviews
This app is solid
Despite all these horrible reviews I decided to go with this app for two reasons:
1) It's not a one man operation behind the scenes.
2) It's the only BC app to work offline.
I don't know if people don't get the fact that there is a local DB storing this info which I find to be one of the primary reasons for using a native iPhone app.
Anything else is just the same as using the web app with a different interface.
So far I have synced 5 new projects with no problems and the interface and workflow are perfect.
As far as the sync problem goes - guys why don't you just limit the per project sync to only the most recent info until the user requests it - then load it on the fly???
This app gets my recommendation.
Good app, API crash explained
Not sure why there isn't obvious good documentation, but here goes. The app didn't work for me at first, after inputting my account data.
Solution:
1) Log into basecamp.
2) Click the account upgrde button on the upper right.
3) Scrillsown and select the activate API selection.
Then the app works.
Can't give it full ranks for that frustrating lack of documentation
Crashes on Sync ; App Won't Start
Looks nice but unfortunately not much chance to test it out.
Initial sync from Basecamp (17 projects) took 30 minutes and crashed at the end.
Now, the app will not launch. It hangs on the splash screen and the iPhoneOS quits the app.
Their support site has no data so for now I'm SOL.
