Major Improvements With the Update
This App used to be painstakingly slow, and I had the biggest problem getting email and bank info without cookies--plus tabless browsing was ANNOYING. However, I used it because I didn't want unfiltered Internet and this was the best option I could find filter-wise. With this latest update, quality updates have really made it a worthwhile buy. Still not so fast as Safari, but fast enough, and tabs and cookies are a big relief. It seems like these developers are really working to make this a quality App. Well worth my $5.
Wonderful app to filter iphone content
Highly recommend this app. It works much better than Safeeyes. It can get on public wifi where you have to read an agreement and sign......safeeyes won't let you view the agreement so your automatically blocked.. BEST PART---its free!!! I have only tried this for a few mins but already can tell the performance is much better than safeeyes!
Great Improvement!
This update is a GREAT IMPROVEMENT! I had given the first version a harsh one star review because the application did not do a good job blocking image searching on the various image search engines. But after playing with this new application for several hours, I am impressed. It is by far the best content filtering browser for the iphone. It does the best job out of the box. There are still a few things on my wish list, but it is worth 5 stars just like it is.
My Wish List:
1) Cooler teenage friendly icon. The current icon makes my son embarrassed to have to use it.
2) Use the normal iphone safari color scheme, at least as an option. Again this will help with teenage acceptance of the application.
3) Don't allow users to delete their own history. Just save the last two weeks regardless. This helps keep users careful about where they surf if they know their history is open for parental review later.
4) This one is technical, but the javascript command "window.scrollTo(0,1);" should make the address bar disappear of the top of the page like it does with Safari on the iPhone. There seems to be some other javascript incompatibilities with the regular iphone browser. I had a quiz page not show up in MobiCip that works fine on the Safari browser.
5) Right now it seems to block all videos. This is probably a safe thing to do but there needs to be a way for a kid to request that his parents allow a certain site to show videos. For example, I was just trying to look at some training from the American Heart Association, but all the training videos were blocked by Mobicip.
