Very "simple" remote

It does its job: remote control your keynote slides by going next/previous slides. Nothing more!!

Pros: Very intuitive and simple to use. Note mode is great and handy.

Cons: Processing time between slides on iphone is a little bit slow. It takes around 0.5sec to 1sec to process each slide on iphone (on your computer screen, it's fine for one command at a time). This won't be a problem normally, but say if you want to skip several slides for any reason (run out of time, etc), you need to wait your iphone to process each command.

Wish list for future update: Should have controls for Play/Pause and Volume control. Also it will be nice to have some sort of index page to let you select which slide to go to directly.

Great, but how often do you have WiFi where presenting?

This is an obvious and a great app. However, I personally do all my presentations in conference facilities. I never bring my own WiFi, and what's available is usually some slow, pay-per-day, web-based log-in WiFi network. Will that really work, and how?

EDIT: I now realise this is easily done by creating a computer-to-computer WiFi network just between the laptop and iPhone! No need for an external WiFi network.

Not "Full" Featured as contrasted to Stage Hand

Keynote Remote (KR)1.0 as contrasted with Stage Hand (SH) 1.5.0:
• KR cannot enter Landscape mode with the accelerometer, SH can.
• KR features direct integration (with 5 too many buttons to click) with Keynote '09, there is no extra Mac-side software download, besides purchasing Keynote '09.
• SH 1.5.0 does not seem to work with Keynote '09, if not saved in the "package" file format. [Edit: The developer of SH has successfully updated a new version of the Mac-side software which does work with Keynote '09, I have personally tested it; it works fine. It is not yet currently available for distribution. 1-9-09]
• KR does not work with Keynote '08, (SH does).
• KR does not have a timer (unlike SH), but does display the clock (SH does, too).
• KR does not have a "slide index" (which SH does) allowing you to jump to any slide, but does allow you to go directly to the first slide.
• KR does not have a "pointer," (unlike SH, which allows you to highlight a region on your presentation from your iPhone).
• KR does not show you a list of open presentations on your iPhone (unlike SH), allowing you to select which one to present, just starts the one in front.
• KR does not have a "blank the screen" option, SH does.
• KR does not allow you to set which slide you want to start on (SH does), it just starts on the currently selected slide, so if you've got the wrong slide selected on your Mac, watch out!
• KR only allows < 1/2 of the iPhone screen to be used to show presenter notes (SH gets 90% of screen), and has no ability to make the small font larger, not even with a pinch, (SH has font size controls).
