Description
ForeFlight File is a simple flight plan filing utility for pilots for iPhone and iPod touch. File was designed with the same attention to detail that ForeFlight customers expect and includes user interface gems such as our Intelligent Aircraft Color Picker, altitude correction for VFR and IFR, email confirmations, detailed status messages, and a "fix" feature for correcting flight plans that could not be filed for any reason.
Features include:

Flight plans are organized by date (“Today”, “This Week”, “This Month”, “Older”), making it easy to find and reuse previously filed plans. Create new flight plans from old ones using the Copy feature, or delete plans that you no longer want to reference. Filing all your plans through ForeFlight File is a great way to keep track of your flight plan filing history.
If you are not ready to take the plunge into ForeFlight Mobile, File is a great way to get an inexpensive peek at one of the many features available in our flagship product.
All of the functionality in ForeFlight File can be found inside ForeFlight Mobile, so existing ForeFlight Mobile customers need not purchase it.
NOTE: ForeFlight File is not a flight planning application. It is a simple and well-designed utility for filing flight plans with the FAA that gives you access to a history of all flight plans filed through ForeFlight.
DEVELOPERS: ForeFlight uses the iPhone’s URL handling feature to allow other applications to send flight plans to File via a simple URL scheme. ForeFlight also makes available a simple web services API that your application can use to submit flight plans. Please contact us if you would like to integrate your iPhone application with ForeFlight File’s flight plan filing feature.

Awesome tool for a usually tedious job
I bought Foreflight File because I wasn't ready to sink $70 on the full ForeFlight Mobile product, thought I would try the File product first. I love it!
It is such an improvement over other mobile tools I have tried, and so much better than trying to do this stuff on a web site. (I wish I had this back during the transition of FSS to LM - whew!)
It remembers my flight plans and makes filing the next one so much easier. And it gives me confirmation that the plan was actually accepted right on the spot without changing screens. Plus you get an email with your flight plan that even includes METARs at your origin and destination. It's not enough weather to make a go/nogo decision but it is very comforting and shows that these ForeFlight guys actually do fly and are really thinking about ways to make flying easier and safer. I'm sold on these guys... buying the full mobile product now.
Works great for 10% of my flying
This app would be perfect if it would just let you type in an altitude instead of forcing you to pick in 500' increments.
Flying in the Washington, DC area we have to file a flight plan before every flight, even VFR pattern work. That's a lot of flight plans, and a tool like this would be great if only it could be used. A DC SFRA VFR flight plan is filed as an IFR flight plan with an altitude like "VFR/014" or "VFR/030" in the altitude field. Since this app forces you to pick altitudes in 500' increments and doesn't let you specify the altitude as VFR (or even just let you type what you want in the altitude field), it can't be used for DC SFRA flight plans--or about 90% of my flying.

Filing from your iPhone is a breeze. Very intuitive, looks great, works seamlessly. It also sends you an email verification that includes weather for both airports, a very nice touch! One request would be some way to alert you to close your flight plan at the end of your flight. Maybe with 3.0 push notification? Great app!
