Fully tested - NOT worth the money
To gain the main benefit and actually use this app you have to email your intinerary to another service. Afterwards it then shows up on your iPhone. So I gave FT Pro the acid test. I was trying to fly to Boston during the February '09 east coast snow storm that hit from Atlanta to Maine. My flight was changed several times but my confirmation number remained the same. If I didn't send an email each time my flights changed the app would not update So it was pretty much rendered useless. One would think a featured flight program would automatically adapt to changing flight plans. Also the flight map feature only works for flights that are "enroute". Well if you're on that flight guess what, your phone doesn't work anyway. So that feature is pretty much useless unless you're wanting to watch someone else's flight. As a frequent flier I thought this App would be a boon to my iPhone. But as it stands it really doesn't do much more than an emailed intinerary from your airline does. Wait the airline does better. If you have notifications properly setup with them then they will call your phone and provide you updates if/when your flights change. Definitely not worth the money.
Not worth the price
While this app does everything it says it does, and does them fairly well - there is a LOT left to be desired.
When I got this app, I was using "Flight Update" which does the same things, is cheaper, and has more functionality in the app.
This app, has some decent features, like the emailing of your reservation to their site and its automatically synced with the iPhone - and the weather at your arrivial and departure points is a nice touch. But "Flight Update" has much better secondary functions such as: Provides total air time, total flight distance, shows if meals are served on the flight, allows for user notes, and can also show a seating map for the kind of aircraft you will be flying on. Unless I've totally missed those functions on FlightTrack Pro - they just don't exist.
The basic app works, but it could be a LOT better. I would suggest to Ben Kazez, to study the functionality of FlightTrack Pro - and IMPROVE on their setup.
Again - this one works - but its not worth the price.
Problem With Push Notifications
Purchased this today and setup my flights for Dec 20, 2009. A big snow storm is currently going through the Northern East Coast, and yes my flight was canceled from ATL to BOS and I never got any updates from this app to let me know. Luckly I have been also checking the Airlines Website and that is where I found out about the status of the flight almost 6 hours ago. The rest of the app does seem to be working good. So much for push notifications.
