The iPhone app holds a lot in store: radio livestreams in German, English, Russian and several Asian languages as well as background information and current news in politics, business, science, German Bundesliga, culture and lifestyle. The entertaining and informative "Video of the day" completes the comprehensive service of the Deutsche Welle iPhone application.
Users are able to store the news on their phone for later offline use. Your need a mobile internet connection (EDGE, 3G or Wifi) for the radio programmes - video content needs WIFI-Connectivity.
The download and usage of the DW iPhone application is free of a charge. Usual data transfer charges of your mobile provider apply.

I have absolutely no complaints in regards to the Deutsche-Welle Application. The multiple languages offered (English, German, Russian, as well as alternating eastern languages) and the ease in switching between them as well as the variety of media in all three makes the Deutsche-Welle application a must not only for businessmen and women who work in multiple European countries but also for anyone wanting to improve his or her fluency in the languages offered (such as myself). The quality of the information is second to none and whether it be articles on violence in Iran, a video on the Christmas Tree tradition in Germany, or simply a book and music review on the live radio stream, you will not be disappointed.

My guess is that the people who gave this app five stars have never tried to use the live TV streaming feature. At least half the time, the thing gets stuck in a loop or shows no picture. If it were just a newsfeed, it might earn more stars, but the streaming feature is definitely not ready for the playground. This has the potential to be the best news app of all, but it's not there yet.
