Description
Galaxy on Fire is an epic space shooter combined with a trading simulation and sci-fi RPG elements. In a huge galaxy of hundreds of planets and space stations, you take on the role of a mercenary with the Terran Armed Forces in the fight against the aggressive alien Vossk. After first demonstrating your skills doing some donkeywork, you are quickly lured to escort and combat missions. Captured goods you can use in the trading system to equip your spaceship with dozens of different weapons, shields, and drives.
During the course of the story, which is accompanied by lots of dialogues and animated 3D cutscenes, you encounter shady characters over and over again, offering sometimes dubious, sometimes extremely lucrative missions. In survival mode, you must face a horde of enemy fighters and hang on as long as possible. Every enemy destroyed provides you with points and new energy, while ‘combos’ result in many more points.

Simply awesome!
The game is worth every penny and it's not too difficult. Just sell all your weapons and buy the meteor gun and you will beat level 8 and 9 on your first try like I did! I have over 200 games and this is the first one I truly can't put down. Minor graphical glitches and rare stutters can't mar an otherwise perfect game. Reminds me of the classic game Wing Commander. Don't hesitate...just buy it!
It's Amazing.
This is a great game espcially after you beat the story/tutorial missions. Those who are complaining that it's "impossible" or "too hard" should stfu. It's a difficult game, waaah. I died twice the whole time. There's this thing you can do. It's called PRACTICE. That helps a lot. Just saying.
I give it a 9.5 out of 10. That's a buy.
Impressive!
For a mere iPhone title, this one offers one of the most immersive gaming experiences I've seen. Full 3D freedom of flight using the iPhone's tilt sensing capabilities combined with intense space battles actually had me moving not only my hands, but my whole body... just like when I was a kid! (Not that it actually does anything for the game, but I defy you to play this one and *not* catch yourself doing the same thing at least once!)
There is also a trading element to the game, but it's not as refined as the system used in titles like "Big Mutha Truckers". Instead, you automatically collect debris from missions and then have the option to sell it at various hangars as cargo at varied pricing within a set maximum price range. Basically just enough info to decide if an item you have is worth enough at that particular hangar to sell. (Personally, I just go by 50% of the listed maximum to decide this...)
Overall, its a fun game, but it may drain your battery pretty quick. (About 30-45 minutes of continuous play on my iPod Touch G2...)
