Customer Reviews
Five star as is. But some suggestions.
As it stands, this app is tremendous. It provides the comprehensiveness of other dictionary apps that cost $20 to $30, except this app is free and has a thesaurus and word of the day built in as well. Just for your information, this app is based on the unabridged version of the Random House dictionary and ppears to be as comprehensive as another paid app that I have (American Heritage Fourth Edition).
Now on the the recommendations.
1. It would be great if there could be an optional setting to have the dictionary or thesaurus search keyboard come up automatically upon application launch instead of having to first tap the search bar.
2. Please disable the near constant prompt to get word of the day by email. I now can get word of the day in this app. Why would I need it in my email as well? It's a little annoying.
3. Provide some type of back button to go back to see the suggested words again. For example, if I type in "force", a number of predicted words pop up and I may click on "force-feed". But say I accidentally clicked this word and actually meant to click "forcefield". It would be nice to have a back button to go back and see the other predicted words for "force" again
Disturbing "Other" memory use
Seems like a very nice dictionary, but despite its claimed ~40MB footprint, I couldn't install it on my phone even though I had > 80MB free. After deleting some music, I had roughly 230MB free and tried again. When it finally installed I noticed my "Other" memory use doubled from about 220MB to well over 400MB, and my free memory droped to 7MB. This happened whether I installed through iTunes or directly from the app store on the phone.
Otherwise 5 stars for what seems to be a comprehensive, and free, dictionary.
Simple,yet effective!
I love this app.it's pretty simple but gets the job done. Now I have to make a
Decision between "dictionary" or "dictionary.com" as my dictionary app(I got dictionary way back when it was free).
UPDATE:I made my decision and Im keeping this app cuz it has far more definitions and takes less memory :)
