September 2 – It has been brought to our attention that our latest 2.0 build is frequently crashing when saving FULL resolution photos. These crashes are not due to bugs in our code – they are in fact terminations of our app by the OS due to memory spikes, which occurs more often now due to our new features in version 2.0.
We are investigating this as rapidly as we can and will post any updates here. Perfectly Clear delivers a powerful result, which is of course why you purchased it, but it is computationally- and memory-usage-intensive which is a challenge when developing on devices with limited memory (such as the iPhone 3G.)
We are confident we will be able address this issue in an update to be released as soon as possible. In the meantime, possible work-arounds include:
• Upgrading to the latest OS (note that the soon-to-be-released OS 4.1 promises performance fixes for iPhone 3G)
• Reboot your device to free up memory
• Save photos to a lower resolution (change Save Size under Settings)
It is our goal for your Perfectly Clear app to perform Perfectly once again, while delivering the high quality that you expect and deserve.

What's New In Version 2.0
1. Powerful automatic noise removal
Grainy/noisy images are a major problem with iPhone photos. Until now there has been no iPhone app effectively dealing with this. Powered by our partner Stoik Imaging, we're offering this correction
-- specifically optimized for iPhone photos -- as an optional feature via the in app purchase. Unlike other noise removal corrections that blur photos after removing noise, our solution is unique in preserving the crisp details.

3. Smarter Sharpening
A revised engine giving you more precise and accurate sharpening. For our Default preset for automatic processing, less sharpening is applied. For your fine tuning needs, the sharpening range has been doubled.

Customer Reviews
If it crashes when you save images, try a reboot.
This update has its problems. If you are experiencing the crashes on save, try rebooting your iPhone. Also, be sure you're running the latest version of the iOS, 4.0.2. I was able to get the Perfectly Clear update to run processing 5MP images on my iPhone 4 after a reboot, including the noise reduction feature.
I'm not able to get the 2.0 update to run reliably at all on my iPhone 2G running OS 3.1.3. No amount of rebooting fixes the crashes.
Perfectly Clear is an awesome app and although it's not needed as much on my iPhone 4, it still does a great job helping get borderline images to a usable state. At first glance, the new noise reduction feature seems to work well without losing much visible detail in the image. Definitely better than the NR feature in PhotoForge.
It's a five star app when the stability and crash issues are fixed. Until then, it should do the job on an iPhone 4.

The new update does not work at all
Can't save any picture after the new update. Always crashes. Worthless now.
New update has special feature -- NO saving
I can confirm the previous reviewer's claim that the new update means the app crashes when you try to save. I try to save original size on my 3G and it crashes. Same thing happens on my wife's 3GS.
As a programmer myself, I often wonder how developers can release an app with such a fundamental feature crippled. It's especially alarming when it comes from a developer I respect and a product that I've always considered as one of the app store's best.
I hope there will be a quick response and fix. Until then, I'm dead in the water.
