It's definitely different...
If you can get used to the control scheme, this game plays a bit like a 2D revisioning of Nintendo's "Super Mario Galaxy". You fly from planetoid to planetoid, battle enemies, collect items and rescuing allies.
One thing I'd like to see added is maybe an option to control the character using the iPhone tilt sensor. (Something like tilt left or right to make the character move in that direction and tapping the screen to leave a planet's surface.)

This is a very cool game, but I agree the controls take a little getting used to. Fresh and new... cool game!
