Description
Your EyeTV on your iPhone
For the first time, the power of award-winning EyeTV fits in the palm of your hand. The EyeTV app enables you to watch your favorite shows, check the program guide, set up recordings, and enjoy live and recorded TV on your iPhone or iPod touch.
❖❖❖ IMPORTANT: This app requires a Mac running EyeTV 3.2 or higher. Use ‘Check for Updates’ in EyeTV on your Mac to make sure you’re running the latest version. Live streaming requires an Intel Core 2 Duo. ❖❖❖
The EyeTV app works together with the EyeTV software (and compatible tuner) running on your Mac at home to deliver these great features to your iPhone:
• Watch live TV and change channels anywhere (Wi-Fi connection required)
• Watch your EyeTV recordings
• Browse the comprehensive Program Guide
• Start recordings back home on your Mac immediately or schedule them for later.
• View and edit your recording schedules
• Automatic configuration for local network use
• My EyeTV service finds your Mac when you’re away
EyeTV on your Mac converts live TV to the format recommended by Apple for streaming to the iPhone. The EyeTV app utilizes the video playback architecture of the iPhone OS, insuring optimum performance and battery life.

WORKS WITH OPTIONAL TURBO.264 HD
If you have an Elgato Turbo.264 HD video converter on your Mac, EyeTV supports live TV “adaptive streaming” to give you the best picture possible under varying network speeds.

NETWORK INFO:
No configuration is needed to use EyeTV on your LOCAL network.
When OUTSIDE your local network, the free My EyeTV service can automatically connect the EyeTV app to your Mac back home, as long as your internet router supports UPnP or NAT-PMP protocols (the same protocols used by Apple’s ‘Back to My Mac’ feature.) If your router does not support those protocols, you will need to manually configure it to forward port 2170.
If you are using the OS X firewall, be sure to allow connections from both EyeTV and EyeConnect. If that doesn’t allow you to connect, try disabling the firewall temporarily.

Customer Reviews
I've been waiting and making my own.
Awesome guys! No offense, but it's about time. So the good is it streams over live tv pretty good even using a core duo. It says you need a core 2 duo but they still let you use a core duo and it works with SD channels very good. HD channels stuttered a lot. I love being able to have my schedules and guide with me everywhere. Not to mention being able to log into any computer with eyetv on it.
The bad is that you still have to encode your recording to iphone format before you can stream it. I know you don't have to do this since a novice like me has used cytv to compress my recordings on the fly to stream it on the iphone. If ffmpeg can compress a live HD signal and a recorded signal than surely this eyetv's new built in server can as well. Come on elgato don't make us use extra disk space and compression time to watch recordings.
Funny side note I was working on this exact app but am going to trash it now that you guys are on it. Great job over all elgato!
Hope to see desktop access to this new built in server as well.
Nifty little app
Yes you do need EyeTV on a Mac for this app to work. Connecting to the mac was simple and straightforward. The Live TV function works pretty well, except when you exit the Ipod Touch EyeTV app, the Mac EyeTV keeps buffering until the program has been exited. Playback of recordings works, but the recording has to converted to a Ipod friendly format, which is a drag because it's very time consuming unless you have the Turbo h264 convertor. The ability to remotely add a program to be recorded without accessing a website is convenient. Streaming of live TV is steppy at times, but the recorded programs stream very well. Overall I would say this is a very cool app if you have EyeTV on your mac. I would say at $4.99 is reasonable for what it can do. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good.
A Dream come true
Perfect companion app I am so excited!
