DO NOT BUY THIS APP! It's full of advertisements!
Nowhere in the app description did it say that CNN Mobile was advertisement supported, there are no advertisements in the preview photos of the app either. So, the only way to know is to buy it like I did and find out the hard way, that’s just unacceptable. I've already written and complained and asked for either a refund or to have the ads removed. (I highly doubt that I will hear back, but if I do I will append this review)
There are ads mixed in with the news links as you scroll down the news, there are also commercials before each video segment. The ads change and blink and are rather annoying and completely detract from an otherwise nice application.
Nothing like mis-clicking on a news story and opening up safari to an advertisement for Lexus, they placed the advertisements at the scroll points so they’re hard to miss and you almost always click on them when scrolling.
I am very disappointed that CNN released an app and had to slide in ads for a paid app!

I was dumb enough to violate my own policy of only buying AFTER reading reviews. My punishment = ads!
Slow, littered with ads!
After waiting all this time for CNN to release their app, I absolutely regret purchasing this and would advise others to not make the same mistake.
The app (on a solid 3G connection) spends most of its time "Updating," shows as many static placeholder graphics as relevant pictures, and is littered with ads. Ads! Remind me again why I paid for this AD-SUPPORTED app?!
My recommendation? Avoid. Stick with a free app like AP News Mobile if you need a news fix on the go, at least until CNN gets their act together.
