This Application has videos, animations and text that allow you to learn the basics about swine flu, learn how to reduce the risk to you and your family, and learn how to prepare your business for the pandemic.
LEARN: featuring videos that answer the most frequent questions about the H1N1 threat and treatments, real time updates from Harvard Medical School reporting on the latest news about swine flu (Available through upcoming update), the “HealthMap: Outbreaks Near Me” that lets you know about the state of the epidemic in your current location and other locations
PREVENT: features a library of video-guides about practices that can help you and your family reduce your risk of catching, or of spreading, swine flu; an interactive symptom checker that helps you decide if your symptoms, or your child’s symptoms, might indicate swine flu, and when it is wise to contact your doctor; recommended household emergency supplies. This section also provides official H1N1 hotlines based on user’s geolocation.
The BUSINESS add-on: A module Developed in collaboration with the Harvard Business School, this section is available as an exclusive paid add-on. Great app
Tap the screen and take an information ride! Lots of practical advice about how to protect yourself. The videos on how to wash your hands and when and how to use a mask are particularly helpful. Great interactivity. Easy to navigate. And cheaper than a bottle of hand
sanitizer (tho you'll want one after watching).
A practitioner opinion
I relaly think this type of medical informaiton is critical for public. I treat in a community in FL -- and this comes as a surprise to my patients, but their behavior is the key factor in staying healthy. Much more than any drug of vaccine. The video guides in this app are a great way to get educated and educate children on safe and healthy behavior. I use these videos now with my patients and its very effective. I hope more apps of this type see the light of day - in my opinion child obesity should be a big target.
Better than some others, not perfect..
I agree with the rest - this app is great to use in a family, especially with young kids. Mine are 8 & 12 and I feel much better with somehting like a 'ritual' that I can communicate to them. The symptom checker is also very useful. I would have liked more information about the new vaccine, but overall a very useful app.
