5/5 ABSOLUTE MUST
- Appadvice
33rd Division is definitely worth recruiting if you're looking for a path-drawing game with a few gameplay twists. It's easily one of the best of its kind. If nothing else, do it for the good of history.
4/4 MUST HAVE
- Slide to play
33rd Division matches up nicely to the quality of other line-drawing icon games such Flight Control and Harbor Master. So, if you think you are master of the sea, rule the sky, then why not show your military prowess on land and see how many soldiers you can lead to safety.

Cool
Really good game, but i think you should be able to fight back.
addictively fun
I tell myself I'm going to play a quick came while microwaving my burrito, but then end up forgetting the burrito for an hour. And I love burritos!
I hope updates contain many more levels! The first six are fun, but I'm itching for more variety.
Even "Veterans" will welcome another one
As someone who has played nearly every line-drawing games for the iPhone, it can be a bit of not-another-line-drawing-game situation for me. I know probably most of you will agree because the appstore has seen an incredible and expanding amount of line-drawing games this recent year. And Craneballs Studios, the makers of Blimp: The Fying Adventures, makes it way to the line-drawing genre with their second game, 33rd Division.
D'oh! This will engage another palm-to-face-or-forehead movement attack for most of us. But I tell you, 33rd Division has enough things that will differ itself from others. The basic and simple concept is you basically need to guide your soldiers from a World War Two-esque atmosphere by drawing its path to it's destination with enemy soldiers patroling along your way. Enemy soldiers has a line of sight where as much as possible, you don't wanna put your allied soldiers into. You have to tap your soldiers for them to get down to the ground and not be seen by enemies' line of sight. Tap them again to resume its destination. But don't worry, the game has various power-ups and bonuses that will make your allies the ultimate soldiers of the WW2 era which includes invisibility, double speed, life-up, frozen enemies, time bonus, double score, triple score and super score.
It may sound not very complicated but do not expect this to be that simply, easy game. It may appear that way because of the simple concept of line-drawing games but to do well, you must deploy some patience, quick skill, strategy and some soldier instinct as the game gets quite challenging as you progress through all four maps. Each map is unique to its own and becomes harder progressively and you need to employ a different tactic for each of the locations, its not just a simple re-skinned version that has the same or no tactical differences from the others. And that's a good thing.
Additionally, there are two gameplay modes - Life Mode and Time Mode. In Life mode, you'll have to keep an eye on your remaining lives. This mode will require your patience and carefull planning to make your way through as you don't want to crazily get pass the enemy sights, otherwise, it will be game over when you lose all your life. Time Mode is the more fast-paced time-is-of-the-essence one. In here, it doesn't matter how many soldiers get killed because you play with, yes, a time limit which increases the difficulty! Each soldier you succesfully guide to its destination will give you additional time, and there are time extenders that randomly appears throughout the game.
Craneballs Studios is very well-known for its degree of polish of it's previous game, Blimp. And they have done it again with 33rd Division. Each map has its own unique background music that brings variation that felt so good and it greatly suits the style and theme of the game. Some subtle things worth mentioning are the various sound effects in the game and voice-overs done by the legendary Arin "Egoraptor" Hanson which brings humor to this already fabulous-looking game game. The art style is very clean and a pleasant to look at especially the hand-painted background which are gorgeous. I must say that the overall graphics and art style truly make 33rd Division pop.
Already, this has some fabulous value beong a 99 cent game. Openfeint integration is a plus where you can track your rank against the world. Welcome addtion would be some achievements but Craneballs Studioes promised more maps and little nooks and crannies will be on it's way via a free updates.
33rd Division blows away most of the other line-drawing games on the appstore and introduces some new concept to the genre which is truly remarkable and separates itself from being just another Flight Control clone. It is definitely more than worth its aking price and I can honestly recommend this to all especially to those who got tired of this genre - the Veterans of line-drawing. This game is a real value that is worth checking out.
