Save your old version for as long as you can
I'm definitely not happy with this update.
First off the gorgeous icon which tied in with the apps aesthetic is now replaced with Twitter's fat cartoon bird outline
Retweeting has been changed. Retweets used to be the icon of the original poster with the retweeter's icon overlapping. Now it is the original tweet with the original icon and a tiny grey text order it stating "retweeted by xxx". With the old version you could clearly tell what were retweets but now you see tweets and icons of people you don't know all over your wall.
Search has been changed from a streamlined interface that was easy to understand and use, into an eyesore that looks exactly like the first screenshot
I bought Tweetie for Iphone, Tweetie for Mac, and Tweetie 2 because of the beautiful aesthetic and streamlined interface... but now that twitter has taken over it seems those things don't matter anymore.
Luckily I saved my version of Tweetie 2.1.2 and will be using that until June when Twitter changes the login structure and making it obsolete.
The "Surprise" thing is a joke!
I paid this app for $2.99 now the 2.1.2 update comes with advertising. Somehow this app is still for sale is a joke also. Twitter bought this company and they said that this app is free in the next couple of days. Don't buy and don't update. Looking forward for the updated free version.
Dissappointed
While I won't disagree that this app is beautiful and feature filled, there are simple things about it that I would have expected from any Twitter app much less a paid one, but failed to see in tweetie. 2 The following are regular aspects that I've come to assume are a given from experience with free apps like echofon and twitterific. But those assumptions are falsified by this app.
1.) highlighting unread tweets with some sort of color
2.) option to auto scroll to first unread tweet
3.) able to read at least to the past 200 tweets (as compared to a measly 90 from tweetie)
4.) quickly clicking a link on a tweet from friends tweets timeline (in tweetie, you first have to click the tweet, click the link, and choose 'open link' from the options, wait for it to load and then see the link)
5.) option to show how many unread tweets you have as indicated by a number inside a red bubble
6.) having all avatars shown. (for some strange reason, on certain users profile, the avatar is just blank even tho on the regular website it's fine)
Just wish these simple yet necessary things can be included in a future update and not just inclusion of new features.
