The distant future. Space has expanded to such an extent that stars and planets can no longer hold form. Humanity still lives and works in space stations and ships, islands of light and technology in an otherwise cold and flat void.
Flatspace is a massive space exploration, combat, and trading game. Choose to play as a Trader, Scavenger, Mercenary, Bounty Hunter, Space Pirate or Police Officer. Wide open gameplay allows you to choose how you play: Trade goods to earn money, mine asteroids, capture or kill bounties, or generally wreak havoc throughout the galaxy.

Instructions on gamefaq in pc section!! Good open world game!
This is a port of a pc game from 2003. Most people will comlain about instructions but fail to realize it's a port. Not a fan of the steering mechanics. But open world nature of the game as well as the wide variety of play style make this a fun game with loads of playtime. It might drive people away with the lack of instructions but you can find the original pc version FAQ on the gamefaqs website, with all the weapons / parts and ship info in it.
Starts Out Fun, But Loses Luster Quick
Wisp indicated on their website that they would be including a wealth function that would be included in 1.1, but decided not to. This would have greatly enhanced game play, but unfortunately you are stuck playing hours and hours to attain even a small amount of money. Because of how difficult it is to earn wealth and how expensive the ships are, even after two weeks of game play and 25 missions, I only have around $100K and that hardly buys you anything because the ships you start off with aren’t big enough to mod out and the high performance weapons you need are expensive. This leaves you vulnerable to attack from other ships. Initially, I was really in to Flatspace because it came out before the much-delayed Warpgate. However, it is quickly losing favor because I feel like I am stuck and that it takes too long to acquire enough wealth to advance. Initial ship is not big enough to do well on money making missions, and you do not enough money to upgrade to a bigger ship. I thought the custom mode with a player-selected wealth would have opened up a new playing experience. It would also be nice to have some sort of ranking system so we know which ships are the best. as well as photos of the ships. Also, a real tech manual about the finer points of the game would be helpful. I am hoping these requests are honored in the next release.

Few games in the app store have rivaled the complexity of options that PC games provide. Flatspace plain and simply does. actually, maybe plain and simply aren't the best words to describe the varied gameplay elements available in this game. Flatspace controls like meteor blitz, and many other asteroid-like games when piloting the ship. whether hunting down a bounty, or caring suplies across the HUGE galaxy, these controls are fun, and simple. (at least i think so, some users have said it takes some getting used to.) The sim elements take place when you encounter other ships, or planets/space docks. you interact with these non player characters using a radio system, with different conversation and mission options depending on which party you selected at the begining of the game. with those tools
on ship you live the life of a space (pirate, trader, etc.) while travling at light speeds across the galaxy using a space map on a quest of discovery. The space map is the only element that gave me some trouble, because though it is clear and detailed, there's no legend in game (easy to find online). If you can't tell. i'm pretty psyched about this game and highly recomend the purchase.
