Description
appadvice 5/5 - absolute must:
Rally Master Pro 3D is now the best racing experience on the iPhone. The game features the best handling, best looking, and most fun of the three main racing games. The only thing it lacks is online connectivity, but it is really unnecessary in this game.

Enjoyable
This game isn't perfect, but it's the first driving game I can't put down. It is a good outdoor driving simulator for the rally fan. You have to turn off the copilot's voice or you will look for the grand theft auto button to punch him out if the car. I've never heard an Englishman say "hard" so many times. The sound effects are okay and there doesn't seem to be any vibration. The damage is a disappointment. I love to destroy a good car, but it happens too easily in an unsatisfying way. The analogue wheel is my favorite. The weather effects and graphics are very impressive and give this game an authentic feel.
Wait for Shift if $ is limited
Update: finished 2nd in amatuer rally using accelometer only. The controls simply aren't good enough. Precision driving and accelometer-based iphone controls simply don't mix.
Its too loose. Its actually difficult to maintain a straight line, even on a straight road. It feels like your fighting the controls/handling the entire.
Perhaps the other controls function better. I'm not interested, however, in playing iPhone racing games with alt. controls.
Okay, first and foremost, this is a Rally game. Rally only. No opponents. It's time-trial based. You vs the track.
The roads are very narrow. Precision driving is required. Not suprisingly, precision driving through accelometer controls can be a little tricky to achieve. That goes for just about any racing game.
The easy/amatuer rally is doable with accelometer controls. The two levels above it, can say for sure. The roads are very tight and the handling can get a little loose.
You're car takes damage, but I'm not sure damage greatly affects the car's performance. Unfortunately, your car takes "damage" for sliding off the road, even if you don't hit anything. Now that's just dumb.
A lot of the tracks look more or less the same. Tracks mix surfaces well, but they don't stand out as each track seeming different.
There's no true cockpit view.
There's no car selection/customization.
Your partner gives very basic verbal commands. His role seems limited though.
The graphics are sharp. My framerate is stable, but I have a 3g iPod. I sense that RR kinda has a better draw distance than this.
The effort's fairly good here. I did find the gameplay to be reasonably engaging.
This game was really taylored to the UK AppStore anyway. I heard FishLabs is charging more for this app in UK then they are in the US.
My favorite Racing Game on the iPod!
If you have read my collection of reviews, you know how many iPod games I have purchased.
I don't constantly throw that number around as a piece of bragging material. I make mention of it often to
give people an idea of how much experience I have with iPod / iPhone gaming.
I have also always been a big fan of Racing Games. I don't follow the actual sport(s), but I do play all of the different
types of Racing Games (with the exception being "Nascar").
- Simulation, Arcade, Indy (F1), Rally, Kart, Futuristic Hover ships, Battle.....The list goes on and on.
I am open to quite a bit.
I have been reading complaints about this game such as "No opponents to race against" and "Can't change car" or "Can't customize car", etc.
Rally Master Pro 3D is it's own game guys. Not all racing games should be made up of the same formula.
Maybe I am a little bit TOO versatile.
I wasn't bothered at all with Gran Turismo PSP's lack of career mode either - Maybe it's just me, but my concerns are almost always different
than the average Guy and Girl.
First of all, in a Rally game, you usually don't race a bunch of cars directly around a 5 lap run at Laguna Seca.
The courses are usually more 'cross country' oriented, where you don't cross the starting line again after You first leave it.
Second, I can not comment about changing the car models, as I am not too far into the game.
The things that I look for in racing games are more along the lines of great simulation (or if arcade, very fun handling - ala Ridge Racer)
I also want plenty of tracks that don't all look the same.
Weather effects are something I welcome in ANY game.
In fact, before this game came out, I can only recount ONE game that has thunder and lightning effects.
Rally master pro has it and it's awesome!
In fact, for each track, you can set the weather how you want it:
Sunny / Cloudy / Rainy / Thunder-Lightning
I also love the fact that there is a first person view. Lack of this option will keep me 100% away from a racing game
of any sort (I'm looking at You, EA!)
The car seems to handle well and the tilt steering works great. It actually feels as good as Real Racing (I mention this because there haven't
been many racing games for the iPod that have rivaled it)
I plan to update my review as I get to know Rally Master Pro a bit better.
There is so much more to go over, but I am not qualified to do so at the moment.
I just mainly wanted to get a quick word out there in the meantime.
I HIGHLY recommend this game. it's well worth the current price!
