Why complain?
Okay, everyone complaining about controls is a moron. "Make it like Wolfenstein..." Has anyone heard of the Options menu? It has the EXACT SAME control option as Wolfenstein! And a completely new configuration! Sure, tilt now controls strafe, but I hated to use tilt to aim so I don't care, I just turn the tilt control off! Please people, give this guy some credit! He's the same guy that made Wolfenstein, don't you think he'd have all the same improvements here as in there? This guy knows what he's doing! And as for being able to make your own maps, it's coming. That feature in Wolfenstein is brand new, and he's probably been working on it for a while. Give this guy some respect! Yeah, if there is a legitimate problem, let him know or give him a suggestion of something that's cool and new, but he's well aware of the situation on controls already through Wolfenstein.
Also, remember this is version 1.0, THERE ARE UPDATES COMING!
Now, onto the game. Remember how good the original was? Even better. "$6.99 is pricey..." not for this. This is the ONLY game I have ever paid this much for, and I regret I didn't give him more money. Wolfenstein is a great game without a doubt, but this game is better! The original soundtrack is lovely, making me stoked to blow away some demons, the controls are great (as previously stated), the visuals have been given a nice update but is still classic (it's not some "remake", it just has improved textures), the framerate is fluid, and there is a BRAND NEW EPISODE added! If you loved the original DOOM, you will love this version best!
I have yet to try the multiplayer yet because I am the first person I know to have it, but I will come back with an updated review when there are updates and I will let you know how multiplayer works then.
Thank you John Carmack for making the FPS genre worth our time. You are truly great! Can't wait to see what updates have in store for this fabulous game you have brought to us!

Like waking up on Christmas morning.
I've been waiting all year for this like every good little Doom fan, and Santa Carmack delivered. Thank you! The flaws are only minor, and probably already known, and I know more content and Internet-based multiplayer are on their way.
Update: just cleared all four episodes (and all four secret maps) on Hurt Me Plenty. Ultra-Violence, here we come!
