Great app that could be even better

I don't understand the negative reviews I've read here -- seems like they are using a different app than me. I travel every week and have been using this app for the better part of the month and while there are positives and negatives, the good far outweighs the bad.
The app allows you to name your own price for hotels with great ease. Naming my own price is the prime benefit of using Priceline -- I ALWAYS save between 50% and 75% off retail prices. Price guidance for naming my own price seems to be pretty accurate, though I always knock at least a few buck off the price they suggest.
Iphone native screens make for easy navigation and data entry and offer submission. Far quicker than any other hotel booking app I've found.
Giving them your email is not required to use the app, but if you have a profile with Priceline then sign in with your email to use it. It'll save you from having to enter your billing information.
Contrary to what other people are saying, the only time I get sent to the website when naming my own price is when my offer has been accepted. It would be nice if that information showed up in the app instead of getting sent off to the page in Safari. But by that point, I'm done with the app anyway, so no big deal.
Shopping and booking retail rates is a bit more clunky -- again, if you have a profile with Priceline, it's much much quicker to get through the process if you sign in. Otherwise, you will be typing in billing information, which, while not good, is the same as I have to do on other hotel apps.
One thing to note is that Priceline appears to be upgrading the app gradually with new features. I updated the app today and found a new "Radar" feature. It gives you retail prices for hotels in a radius from where you are standing! Seems to be a nice feature for extreme last-minute travellers.
There used to be links to get airline tickets and rental cars on a more tools button, but they just sent you to the website in Safari. That was a horrible feature, but it seems they realized this and have removed those links with this last update.
The app is lacking in the ability to manage my profile through the app. It is completely useless for getting plane tickets, rental cars and vacations. I hope they add these features in the near future.
In sum, if you've used Priceline in the past and you understand the Name Your Own Price system, this app is top notch. That bidding system is Priceline's big advantage over the other online travel agencies and that works seamlessly in the app.
Retail pricing works the same here as it does on the other big travelsite apps and some of the smaller ones I've tried.
For what it is, it's awesome. I hope it becomes even more.

This App Cost me extra money!

I decided to give this app a try to book a room for New Years Eve. Unfortunately, the app very easily sets back to the current date while you are using it to book a room. Because of this, I ended up booking a room for the current date instead of when I wanted. When I called to have it corrected, I was told that they would make and exception and let me cancel. The fees to do this are either:
1. They keep all my money unless I rebook through them and fill out a form requesting some of the money back.
2. They keep $25.00 if I do rebook through them, again AFTER I fill out a form.
They need to fix the app so that it does not revert back the the current date so easily or make it more obvious BEFORE you hit the BUY NOW button what the dates you are requesting are. They just blend in to the rest of the information making it way too easy to book the wrong date.
I would give it zero stars if I could. I am really unhappy about their policy if a mistake is made. I will not use Priceline again due to this flaw on their app that cost me money.
I made a mistake on my dates on Travelocity once (in that case it was completely my fault) and they easily fixed it without charging me to cancel.

Perfect for last-minute hotels on the go. Fast to use!

I've been a fan of this app since version 1.0 came out. The new 1.1 version brings a much-improved checkout flow that makes checkout fast and even fun. Best I've seen so far. Kudos to priceline for making the jump from web page to iPhone. As with version 1.0, don't expect the full priceline site. Long-time bidders like me will miss the flexibility of picking multiple neighborhoods and star levels. But for last-minute savings when you don't want to unpack your laptop, nothing beats this app. Same gripes as 1.0 remain: "more tools" is a waste and Safari pops up after you book your hotel. 5 iPhone bookings so far, $400+ saved.
