Best RTS in the AppStore
Ever since Age of Empires, my first true love, I've become hooked to RTS games. Gathering resources, strategizing every move, I could play for hours and not even notice it, it got so bad that i would dream of strategies for my next LAN party ...Ahh, good times.
One can clearly see that a lot of thought was put into the design of this game. It has every element of a great RTS, plus the depth of it is incredible, serious players will really enjoy this!
Gameloft, you never cease to amaze me. Your games are amazing.
Requests (for that 5th star):
- Skirmish Mode (what happened?)
- Bluetooth Multiplayer Mode
(Allow me to decide battery life)
- Option to skip tutorial.
- Option to speed up gameplay
OPTIONAL (if you really cared):
- I would like to print out Online Reference Cards (credit card size) with icon descriptions, unit information, etc.
- Other Game Modes
(Last man standing, protect the king, etc)
I am a very satisfied customer and I definitely recommend this game!
Awful, Terrible, Do Not Buy!!!
This game is awful. Incredibly slow paced. Terrible implementation of every aspect of a 4X RTS game.
Exploring is basically not part of the game. Expanding takes forever and your pioneers are ridiculously vulnerable. Building buildings is inconcievably annoying. Gathering/Transporting resources is frustratingly painful. Warfare is a joke. Buildings are all but impossible to defend and destroyed too easily and instantaneously.
Exploring requires nearly constant micro management on a tiny visable area. Meanwhile there are ten other things demanding your attention.
Expanding involves gathering resources, building tools, converting settlers into pioneers then sending those pioneers out to excruciatingly slowly expand your borders. Sometimes building defensive structures works but is not recommended.
Building a building requires enough open space as dictated by an unclear system. There is NEVER enough space to build buildings. Expect to spend 60-180 seconds placing EVERY building after the first few. Clear land with wood & stone cutters asap. Incredibly annoying when you can't build anything.
You've built all the necessary buildings to produce weapons and soldiers. Tens and tens of settlers are scurrying every which way carrrying resources to various places...except your barracks. Then suddenly you get ten archers but zero swordmen. If you're lucky. It's not fun to be attacked by the enemy and lose buildings while stockpiles of weapons go untransported. Not fun at all.
War is like this. Your forces can never disengage combat. If you lose two towers, everything in between those towers is instantly destroyed. Towers are weak giving you a force multiplier of about 2. The enemy attacks your civilians but you can't attack his. But none of this matters since the AI is pathetic.
Save your money, time and sanity...Do not buy this game.
