The Hipstamatic keeps the the quirks of shooting old school but gives you the ability to swap lenses, film, and flash settings all with the swipe of a finger.
Characterized by vignettes, blurring, over saturation, discolored images, Hipstaprints have a casual and seemingly accidental snapshot feel. The Hipstamatic can be downloaded to any iPhone sporting the 3.1 or beyond software update. For $1.99 you can download the base model Hipstamatic 150 which includes the John S, Jimmy, and Kaimal Lenses, as well as Blanko, Ina's 1969, and Kodot Verichrome film and two standard flashes complete with humming sound. Additional lenses, films, and flashes are bundled within the app as 'Hipstapaks' and start at 99 cents. Each Hipstapak includes multiple items.
Pictures taken with the Hipstamatic have their very own look and unique character. Artistic and painted with light and quirk, Hipstamatic images are sometimes surprising and offer a delicate beauty turning any iPhone into an instant art making machine. Images can be uploaded directly to Facebook, Flickr, or emailed to your friends and family.

ORIGINAL HISTORY

Back in 1982, the Hisptamatic was legendary- well, with at least a few hundred small town kids in Wisconsin. Known for its ability to swap lenses and take multiple film formats, this plastic camera was well on its way to being a big deal. Sadly less than 200 cameras were produced. Today, a digital reproduction is brought to the iPhone with lots of added features.

Customer Reviews
Better, but there are still issues
Model 160 is a big step up. Stacks are great, and the increased resolution is welcome. However, there are still some problems.
1) Hipstamatic still doesn't save EXIF data including Geolocation to the camera roll. This was promised for when iOS4 was released and is still missing.
2). If you have rotation lock on, all of your photos will be rotated 90 degrees. This was not the case with Model 155.
3). Locking the hardware flash to the software flash was a mistake. Now it's impossible to get some of the nice flash effects offered by Hipstamatic without blowing out your pictures with the hardware flash. I understand the desire for it to be intuitive to operate, but it simply ruins the flash effects.
If it weren't for the higher-resolution images, I'd be figuring out a way to go back to Model 155. I hope the developers consider fixing some of these things... This app takes amazing pictures, and it is sad to see it saddled with these issues and limitations.
No longer works
This was my favorite new app but it now is completely broken on my 1G iPhone after the latest update. It was acceptably slow before. Now it goes to "Printing" and just stops.
I spent a lot (for me) of money on this app and the various in-app upgrades. This had better get fixed quickly.
No Effects Would Be Cool
I like the app, but it would be super cool if you could apply the coolness to old photos taken before this app was purchased. Also it would be nice to have an option to save another copy of the photo without the effects.
