After having the risks pay off on their first album, The Stooges returned with newer and more intricate ways to make a mark. Funhouse is as much funk as it is punk, with Steve Mackay’s sax permeating the title track, glazing over a funky Dave Alexander bass riff. Dueling guitars clash on danceable “Loose,” one of them screeching out small solos over Iggy Pop’s signature chant-singing. “Dirt” is a churning seven-minute jam with slow-marching drums giving way to the wah-wah guitar solo.
