As Six Organs of Admittance, Ben Chasny has the curious ability to infuse his psych folk with styles from centuries past, creating something that feels as if it emerged from another dimension. Luminous Night is decorated with plenty of these sounds, including the Renaissance-style flutes of “Actaeon’s Fall (Against the Hounds),” the trembling tablas of “Bar-Nasha,” and the shoegaze-like distortion hovering over “Cover Your Wounds With the Sky.”
