Blondes’ second album takes everything that made their 2012 debut special and dials up the intensity, resulting in a collection that’s both headier and more visceral—an all-consuming techno vortex that is as atmospheric as it is floor-oriented. The buzzing organs of “Aeon” set a meditative tone halfway between dub techno and liturgical drones; “Bora Bora” follows with volleys of pounding kick drums and cascading synths. “Elise” closes out the LP with a euphoric, relaxed groove, warm like sunshine after a long night of dancing.
