Rock 'n' Roll Revival

Rock 'n' Roll Revival

Rock 'n' Roll Revival is actually Loverboy's revival. One of Canada's most beloved '80s pop-rock bands, Loverboy received an offer from producer Bob Rock (Metallica) to record two new songs: "No Tomorrow" and "Heartbreaker." Inspired, singer Mike Reno and guitarist Paul Dean then wrote the basics of the title track in one night. For the remainder, the band chose fan favorites from its back catalog and recorded them live in concert, with the bulk of the recordings coming from the Casino Rama in Ontario and a few others from a night in Winnipeg. Casual fans will want to make sure they have the original versions of the songs, but hardcore devotees will enjoy hearing the group still kicking after all these years. Of the new tracks, "Heartbreaker" comes closest to capturing the old firepower, with the pop mix of guitars, keyboards, and tight rhythm tracks that made the group a success the first time around.
