Everyones Smiling
This is Green Day with Jazz Hands.
A product perfect for the Across the Universe and Glee generation. The singers sing with that hopeful innocent saccharine sound that makes the bitter more bitter and the teenage girls more giggly. If that's what you like, you have plenty of it here.
Take the punk angst out of the pop-punk song and all you have is bubblegum. This is bubblegum: Sweet at first, but loses it's flavor fast and must quickly be discarded before you choke on it. The band had hand and heart in this which can't be said of most of these band to musical transitions. Is it the saving grace or the coup de grâce for Green Day... I don't know.
You've been warned, Billy Joe's words are present, but his blood and sweat has been replaced with a 13 year old girl and an American Idol cliché.
You don't need to be a Green Day fan...
I saw this show on Broadway a couple of weeks ago, and it is unbelievable. I was not a big fan of Green Day before I went, and had fairly low expectations, but I was blown away! I think that these versions of the classic Green Day songs are significantly better than the originals. If you are at all interested, trust me and buy these songs! My favorites would have to be Are We the Waiting, 21 Guns and Extraordinary Girl, but they're all fantastic.

I love this musical! I saw it when it opened up in Berkeley and I wanted to buy the soundtrack. Sadly they didn't have the cast version of the album. So happy they finally released one! A MUST SEE SHOW AND A MUST BUY ALBUM!
