To Love Again

To Love Again

Released in 2005, Chris Botti’s To Love Again succeeds as a complementary project to its predecessor, When I Fall in Love. To Love Again mostly features special guest vocalists, while the earlier set is largely instrumental. Both integrate The London Session Orchestra and mostly present standards. Sting and Paula Cole make return contributions on “What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life” and “My One and Only Love,” respectively, while Botti partners with next-generation crooners Michael Bublé (on “Let There Be Love”) and Renee Olstead (on “Pennies from Heaven”). Brazilian vocalist Rosa Passos is the least known (and thus the best discovery) of all the guests, though Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler challenges her as a surprisingly traditional belter on Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile.”
