Pioneers of progressive rock in Mexico along with Decibel, Chac Mool were one of the few groups that dared to incorporate pre-Hispanic elements into their music. They also used violins, mandolins, synthesizers and pianos to adorn their rich and distinctive sound. On the extensive and complex compositions in their second album, Sueños De Metal we can find lyrics like “Kandahar”, where they illustrate a utopian underwater Arcadia; and “Sombras De La Noche”, which closes the album with a narration describing the search for peace and forgiveness by the spirits that wander under the moon.
