I Feel Cream (Bonus Track Version)

I Feel Cream (Bonus Track Version)

Merrill Nisker, a.k.a. Peaches, isn’t a lady you take home to dinner for polite company. She’s an entertainer who likes to shock; in her own words, she’s a “stage whore.” Her albums are deliberately challenging electro-clash where melodies and hypnotic rhythms are rubbed raw and the listener is either seduced or annoyed by the constant whirrings and purrings of a woman who isn’t going quietly into the night. She’s actually less blunt this time out, reaching less for the pure shock. “Serpentine (I Don’t Give A, Pt. 2)” is a whispered plea of insanity. “Talk to Me” struts out with a forceful vocal and a grumpy, pumping keyboard line. Multiple producers keep the electronic showcase a glitzy whirlwind of sound, but no matter the beats or backdrop, Peaches swings like a disco diva from a lost era. “Lose You” and “More” are tunes that rely more on texture than confrontational statements. “Mommy Complex” and “Billionaire” align with the Peaches her fans have come to love, toying and teasing with personal identity issues with her tough, nasty streak cutting through the grooves.
