Live at Brixton

Live at Brixton

Since coming together in Atlanta circa 2000, Mastodon have become one of the heaviest (and most popular) metal bands working today, staying busy both in the studio and on the road. Fusing elements of doom metal and progressive rock, to date they've released five studio albums, including Leviathan, Blood Mountain, and Crack the Sky. Many of their lyrics center around complex fantasy concepts (the hunt for Moby Dick, a paraplegic with superpowers, etc.), while their undeniable musical chops, unpredictable change-ups, and thunderous live shows have made them a hit on the festival circuit. Live at Brixton was recorded at a London show in February 2012; it finds them serving up nearly 100 minutes of high-intensity mayhem culled from their entire discography. Devastatingly heavy while surprisingly catchy, this is essential listening whether you're a Mastodon neophyte or longtime follower.
