Haha Sound

Haha Sound

The sound that Broadcast established on their early EPs and singles and debut album blended the influences of '90s post-rock and '60s psych-pop. Haha Sound pushes both agendas further forward to create a feel that's simultaneously more visceral and more textured. The psychedelia is trippier, the electronics are edgier, and the pop is poppier. Consequently, tracks like "Colour Me In" and "Valerie" offer up a kind of funhouse-mirror version of modern indie pop by juxtaposing all those elements. On the other side of the fence, "Distorsion" and "O How I Miss You" delve deeply into the kind of outré sonic experiments that would become more prominent in subsequent albums.
