The Feeling

The Feeling

Olympia, Washington’s Naomi Punk come from the same loose network of neo-post-punk bands as Protomartyr and Parquet Courts—bands that turn the visceral immediacy of punk into something like abstract art. A hazy, jagged, but obliquely romantic first full-length, The Feeling plays like breakup music bellowed by a forlorn swamp thing, murky in sound but direct in delivery, with peaks so caustic and coated in effects (“The Spell,” “Trashworld”) that they sound like they could peel paint off walls.
